Australian designer MARIAM SEDDIQ marks her eighth consecutive show at Australian Fashion Week with the unveiling of “CHROMA” held on Thursday, May 16, at the Clarence Vault Rooms in Sydney.

Introducing “CHROMA”: Step into a world where darkness meets brilliance, where chaos intertwines with elegance. “CHROMA” emerges as a testament to the raw beauty of molten metals, the sleek allure of chrome and the grit of a dystopian landscape.
Drawing inspiration from chrome and the dynamic flow of molten metals, crafting a narrative of avant-garde fashion. The 20 piece collection includes Seddiq’s signature sculptural forms, micro mini skirts, ultra-thin bandeaus, and recycled leathers, imparting a futuristic allure with the models fingers painted in obsidian black.
From the gleam of chrome to the rich, glossy shades of black, the looks include sheer draping, twisted sculpted silhouettes and low cuts, all in an unexpected and fresh tribute of the female form. “CHROMA” is a call to embrace the chaos, to defy convention and channel the essence of rebellion and resilience.

Located in a heritage building – a former electrical Substation that once powered Sydney’s CBD—the runway took place in the Clarence Vault Rooms. VIP guests, among them Nikki Phillips, Terry Biviano , Brittany Hockley, Mimi Elashiry, Jules Robinson and Cam Merchant, Shani Grimmond, Ksenija Lukich and Eden Harper, we’re amongst the first to experience the members-only venue — a subterranean haven of unparalleled luxury. In the vault, guests indulged in canapés and savored PATRÓN margaritas.
As the label commemorates its ninth anniversary, “CHROMA” serves as a testament to Seddiq’s commitment to Australian-made, ethical practices and sustainability. The brand eschews seasonal sales, focusing instead on crafting bespoke, one-of-a-kind pieces in Sydney. Seddiq ensures that no spare fabric goes to waste, utilising offcuts in new creations, or sharing it with aspiring designers to support the ethos of slow fashion. This mindful approach has led to some of the brand’s most creative collection pieces, underscoring that no piece of fabric is discarded.

Using DAVROE hair products and SHARK BEAUTY hair tools, the hair was styled into edgy, punk-inspired
black pixie cuts for all. The styles, defined by a distinct grungy, choppy, and textured look, were created by
DAVROE Hair Director Madison Voloshin.
All models were styled in a fitted, uniform wig that had been carefully cut to make sure consistency was
achieved. Products that were carefully used by the DAVROE Styling team included Body Volume Texture,
Formation, Construct, Complete, Fabricate, and Tame Detangler to ensure a well-fitted wig wrap was
achieved. All models required their hair to be completely flat for the wigs to fit properly and be secured as
directed by Hair Director Madison Voloshin.

MAKEUP FOREVER, directed by Susan Lilian, created neutral makeup looks featuring metallic grey
undertones and bleached brows.
To finish the looks, Nails were painted with liquid chrome on black-dipped fingers by KLAWS BY KATYA,
and models wore custom sculpted molten earrings, necklaces and handcuffs.
